Elena Bautista-Horn

I was skimming through different channels on TV which lead me to one interesting political personality, Mrs. Elena Bautista-Horn, Representative Arroyo’s spokesperson. What makes this lady interesting is her conviction and work ethic that made her Arroyo’s close in and personal assistant. Power House on GMA News TV hosted by Mel Tiangco featured their beautiful home and also shared her working experience climbing up the political ladder.

In the said interview, Len was open enough to share her experience as the person in charge of the LTFRB. Receiving death threats was normal and it did not stop her for facing the music of how politics run; also that she was brave enough to face these people who threatening her through using the red plate which was assigned for her. When she was assigned in MARINA where many sea accidents happened, she faced all types of criticisms and was also bombarded with controversies yet still, she is one of the few who knows how to handle the tough job.

What made this episode interesting and striking is the loyalty Mrs. Horn for the former president and who she considers as her friend. She stated in her interview that her relationship with Mrs. Arroyo was beyond work; that she considered her boss as her friend. She made me think that life should be lived this way, that whoever we meet and trusts us should be considered as our ally. Mrs. Horn displayed what friends are for, she shared that her boss has not yet hurt her and proved that you go up and down, through thick and thin wherever the current brings you because you are both friends.

There is more to professionalism which is true friendship and honesty towards each other. It simply amazes me that when Elena started to wok under Mrs. Arroyo’s turf, she was fully trusted on her decision making and her capability that is why she will not replace her loyalty to the former president.
