Second week of internship is like being in Big Brother’s house. Everything seems to have twists and turns that only a ‘housemate’ can do and yes, that was my second week.

After being under Mrs. Gasatan for a couple of days, ‘Big Brother’ called me up in the ‘Confession  Room’ stating that I and my partner should be reassigned to a new critic teacher for the fact that we do not get mentored because she did not graduate as a BSE English. Having new arrangements, my partner was assigned to the English Coordinator and I was to an English major. What makes me feel a little bit different to situation is that if I was helping out the non-English major, then, what kind of mentoring will I have when I am all left alone inside the classroom, doing what I want, checking the quizzes, writing comments on class cards without having post conferences as a means of feed backing. I am truly amazed by the system. This system truly calls for a revamp. I think I am not called for to be in the public school. I think my ways of handling students if far off different from their ways. I have constantly complained to the other interns that there are irregularities in the public school that is different from the private school. First is the no-softdrinks policy. Xavier University High School and other private schools are truly following this mandate by the DepEd that softdrinks of any variants and brands are strictly not allowed inside the campus but knowing this fact is different in the public school. Stalls and stores sell various types of softdrinks inside the school. Is that not enough irregularity and the public school is so much proud of this. Second, the no textbook strategy does not work in depressed areas especially when you have a student who is a 4-time repeating champion of first year. If private school students have difficulty with having books, how much more for students who only have a lousy pen and a crumpled notebook for notes? Simply breaks the hearts of an intern serving for the youth and future leaders. Some teachers even do not reprimand or rebuke students who bully other classmates, where is your call for education for all when teachers themselves are mere proprietors of injustice and partiality.

These are mere observations of the reality since we are all required to reflect on ideas. I cannot simply shove it in my system because my system simply vomits the world of inaccuracies and illusions of what they want to be done in the public.

All written here are observations and should not be taken against the person. This does not apply to others who are truly serving for the welfare of the future. It is just that others should be given credit for the real work they have done in the service.
